William Snyder brings an eclectic wealth of experiences to his teaching and performing. After bridging a prolific career in finance while balancing serious musical pursuits, he was invited into the class of Professor Stéphan Sylvestre at the University of Western Ontario where he completed his post-bachelor Artist Diploma. Originally from Toronto, William graduated among only a handful from the rigorous Licentiate Diploma program through the Royal Conservatory of Music. Combined with a deep passion for mentorship and 10 years experience, the Opus 1 Music Hub Professional Studio, was born.
His transformative leadership approach is influenced by a diverse background and personal philosophy which emphasizes making connections between music and life's many other facets. He believes that every individual can achieve great things when given barrier-free opportunities to engage in the creative process of music making. In his words, "there lies a great joy in seeing a smile of immersive self-discovery on the face of a student."
William views music as the strongest global language, able to break down cross-cultural barriers and foster mutual understanding. While on tour with Babel Chorus in 2019, William was invited as a featured performer in the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts masterclass program. HKAPA ranking #1 in Asia and #7 globally was the perfect launchpad with which he proceeded to win the 2nd Prize at the 2019 GOCAA International Piano Competition held in Hainan, China. In addition to his musical achievements, William has given speeches in Mandarin Chinese on the topic of the musical bridge at several high-profile language competitions having won twice, and having appeared on National Chinese TV in 2016.
His professional background includes a role as Piano Faculty Member, Toronto School for Strings & Piano, Organist & Choir Director (Music Director), Thornhill Baptist Church, and an Administrative position with Yamaha Canada at their flagship Canadian school. He was a Data Analyst & Finance Project Consultant for the Office of the Dean, Ted Rogers School of Management where he was the Curriculum Advisor responsible for developing a breakthrough boot-camp series now being taught to over 10,000 students.
